Medical and Prescription Benefits
Medicare Eligible Retiree Benefits
All Medicare eligible retirees that retired prior to January 1, 2015 are able to select one of the two Medicare Advantage insurance plans that include drug benefits. Those Medicare eligible retirees that retired prior to January 1, 2015 and choose not to enroll in one of the offered medical plans can instead opt to receive a health reimbursement account (HRA) with funds to use for medical insurance premiums or certain other medical expenses.
Your medical plan options are:
- Priority Health PPO
- Priority Health HMO
For more information about these plans, please use the Useful Health Care Links on the right-hand side of the page. You may also find helpful plan information by visiting the Documents page found within this website.
Retirees that retired after January 1, 2015 are not participants in the VEBA and accordingly, are not eligible for medical coverage. You will need to obtain your own health insurance coverage for you and your dependent family members.
Non-Medicare Eligible Retiree Benefits
Accordingly,
non-Medicare eligible retirees who retired on or before December 31, 2014 will
need to obtain their own health insurance (for themselves and their
dependent family members). Health Insurance Marketplaces– also known as
Exchanges – are available in every state, including Michigan. Please be advised
that HRA coverage through the VEBA will be considered “other health
coverage” and may result in your ineligibility for federal tax credits on the
public exchanges. Therefore, if you are currently receiving federal tax credits
through the public exchanges, you may want to consult with your personal
tax advisor regarding your eligibility for such tax credits on the public
health exchanges.
All Non-Medicare eligible retirees that retired prior to January 1, 2015 can receive a health reimbursement account (HRA) with funds to use for medical insurance premiums or certain other medical expenses.
